What you can expect here
Anyway! is a weekly newsletter of quick reads and slow-burn ideas about love, work, creativity, ambition, pleasure, and what it means to build a meaningful life in deeply bizarre times. You know, the kinds of thoughts often flattened by algorithms, SEO sludge, and the general psychic noise of the internet.
Who’s writing?
I’m Ali Francis — a writer, baker, and the author of the forthcoming book The Curious Lives of Vegetables (September 2026).
For years, I worked as a staff writer at Bon Appétit, reporting on the ways food and culture collide. I now co-run Best Food Blog, an independent, writer-owned publication built with a handful of former colleagues as an alternative to ad-chasing and click-driven food media.
Anyway! is where I think out loud about how to build a thoughtful existence — and hopefully uncover some insights that may help you do the same.
My work has appeared in The Atlantic, BBC, The Guardian, The Cut, TASTE, and elsewhere. You can find me on Instagram and learn more on my website.
